Journey Inwards
Good Lookin Records/Distribution Fusion· 96 leagues below deep, Bukem sparkles.
When you think youve found it all, discovered the quintessential groove, and that the technique and music has reached its peak, along comes a curveball in the shape of two CDs that are another landmark in the field of electronic music. Journey Inwards, as the title implies, is LTJ Bukem at his finest, exploring the roots of his sound, which is part rare groove, part jungle, part hip hop and part house.
This Journey utilizes the minimal to achieve depth, as every track is allowed to develop, synthesize, grow and move on. It moves toward its end effortlessly, like being in a car alone and just watching the world roll by your window, no voices to muddy the fray, just sound from the road and the occasional passing image that melts into the landscape of memory. If only all self-revelation would be so respectful, charting so precious a course through the maelstrom of the ever cumbersome world of music. This may prove to be Bukems "Love Supreme."
Beautiful beyond description, if only all roads led to Bukems world.
