BUILT TO SPILL
Live
Warner

· Sixth LP; features nine live songs spanning Normal Years (1993) to Keep it Like a Secret (1999), a 20-minute cover of Neil Young’s "Cortez the Killer" and a cover of Love As Laughter’s "Singing Sores Makes Perfect Swords."

Given Built to Spill’s propensity for exclusively touring soil that isn’t Albertan, there’s plenty of incentive to travel the distance to see one of their shows. One reason is to feel the voluptuous sound that this canned live (in N.Y.C.) album regretfully needs. Despite recording limitations, BtS ringleader and mesmerizing string virtuoso Doug Martsch continues his gloriously bombastic guitar wizardry and an adamant vocal allegiance to Neil Young.
