THE LAZY COWGIRLS
Somewhere Down the Line
Sympathy for the Record Industry

· Ninth lip-curled LP recorded by Earle Mankey (engineer for The Beach Boys, The Cramps, The Runaways).

The line of women who have done wrong to L.A. firecracker Pat Todd must run the length of a few saloons. Strippers, jailbait, heartbreakers... man, this rocker has more resilient mojo than Hef and Clinton combined. The key to the Cowgirl’s winsome way is that there’s nary a Princess Charming in sight, which continues to ignite the incinerating fire underneath our tigerish hero’s belly. More defiantly scrappy lyrics backed with either acoustic or kiss-their-ass fast, blustery, revved-up rock have scored them a loyal legion of fans devoted to their earnest, tenacious, ballsy and hard-bitten honesty. This music has a heartbeat.
