CD Review by Mary-Lynn McEwen VARIOUS ARTISTS The I-10 Chronicles Back Porch/Virgin · Willie Nelson, Adam Duritz, Joe Ely and Emmylou Harris make musical love together on these 13 tracks. The snow’s only made the crocuses grow faster, and blessed new green grass will soon feel the lawnmower’s curse, all of which means that soon we’ll be making like Dean Moriarty and getting’ on the road, runnin’ summer over with our tire treads. The artists featured on The I-10 Chronicles have created a musical coast-to-coast version of a west to east highway journey. Starting with the song "L.A. Freeway" and continuing through gems like "Carmelita" and "Everybody’s Talkin’," the music, vocals and essence weave gentle acoustic tales, capturing the moments of slanting sunlight and gas fumes, and the feeling that anywhere else is better than here. 4/5
