Emerging contemporary art will be celebrated with multiple openings on April 20 at 8 p.m. at the Plus 15 Windows in the pedway system of The Arts Centre. Participating galleries include: The New Gallery’s Candice Tarnowski and her work, Our America; Stride’s Mark Feddes’s An Artwork; and Truck’s Jay VanderGriendt’s and Colin Clark’s This is not vandalism, this is art. The openings will be followed by refreshments and a chat with the artists at the Auburn Saloon.

Grads of ACAD’s visual communications program will present their Genesis Portfolio Show in the Main Atrium at 801-7th Ave S.W., with the reception on April 20 at 5 p.m.

Rosebud: A Contemporary Ballet on April 21 at 8 p.m. is yet another fund-raiser for the artist-run centre Truck. Written by Kara Keith and Bob Keelaghan, it incorporates a variety of media and includes local artists Monique Bloom, Chris Lowry and Jade Rude. Post performance rock music will be provided by local indie act Hot Little Rocket. Call 261-7702 for more information.

Banff’s Whyte Museum focuses on art and artifacts from Japan in From Morse to Whyte: The Legacy Transcends. This examination of the museum’s collections includes woodblock prints by master Japanese artists that reflect dominant themes of the Ukiyo-e period. It’s open for viewing on April 21.
