News by FFWD Staff Oscar Party to support film fest What’s more enjoyable than sitting at home gawking at the stars come Oscar night? Gathering at a local watering hole with a couple hundred other people to gawk at celebrities come Oscar night and to support a good cause. Hot on the heels of its successful American Movie screening and gala, The Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF) is holding an Academy Awards party to raise money and awareness for the first annual festival scheduled for late September of this year. The CIFF’s Oscar night festivities take place upstairs at Ceili’s Irish Pub on Sunday, March 26 at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at the door or by calling Erin at 244-8242, and the admission price gets you a drink, appetizers and the chance to win door prizes donated by organizations such as Alberta Theatre Projects, Theatre Calgary, and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.
