Remember different is good. With that in mind, 421 Meredith and Squibb continue in fine experimental style this Thursday, with the sonic explorations of Tammy McGraffe, Cody Oliver, Rich Corinthian and The Most Perfectly Deformed Man, and visuals supplied by Starfish. Performances this week will run the gamut from experimental noise to soothing sounds, and all this happens at 421 Meredith Road, down in Bridgeland.

Friday has The Night Gallery hosting Low Pro Productions’ spin-o-rama/DJ battle. Here you’ll find eight locals spinning against each other in hopes of earning the title. In attendance will be the one and only P-Trix, named last year’s dirtstyle DJ of the year, in from L.A. to wow the masses with his incredible skill and timing. Doors open at 8 p.m. If ya just can’t get enough you can go to Phonics and catch them early on March 24 where they will entertain you from 4:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. in order to help celebrate the grand opening of this new local record shop.

Saturday the concrete heats up again with Connected lighting up the collective conscious of the Max Bell Arena. You’ll find headliners Terry Mullin, La Fleche, Myka and Big League Chu playing various forms of foot-stompin’ four-on-the-floor. Local faves Tryptomene, Domenic G(igi) and Delerious will also be on hand to guide you. Tickets are available at Feroshus and Ticketmaster.

On Wednesday, Ferenheit delivers your mid-week supply of pump, with four (count ’em) guests playing at Republik. Rowland the Bastard, Guy McCaffer, Tarball & Butter and Five Alive plug in and take the stage to propel you towards the weekend. Not to be left out is the ever-lovin’ host Domenic G.

Next Saturday the Paul Oakenfold hype machine hits Alberta playing his now mythic set of trance in Edmonton. Alongside him you’ll get Max Graham, Cary Chang and Terry Tran, and the chill room will be hosted by Malfunkt, and local gurus Al Testa and Magpie. In the Molson lounge (Molson?) you’ll get Junior Brown, Slimboy and Spilt Milk. Tickets are available in advance from Feroshus and appear to be going fast, so get ’em quick.

On the radar, Glide happens on April 8 and will feature DJ Trancelott, DJ Alana Davis and DJ Stylus. This is hailed as an all-female lineup and will definitely be worth checking out just for the change up.

Congratulations to Danielle Wodrazka and Nathan Maubert who each won a pair of tickets to this week’s Connected at Max Bell Arena.

Which brings me to my next point. Aside from answering last week’s question on glowsticks, a few of you brought up the topic that there are too many of the same kind of parties. You’re a little bored with the way things are presented, and some of you suggested that it would be nice to see smaller parties with more rooms and different music – any of you agree?
