by FFWD StaffAnother week, another biggie party and another batch of reasons to get up and get down with your fave local DJs.
Thursday Night, Squibb goes down at 421 Meredith Road, with Stockholm conducting experimental audio improv along with Occipital Rubdown, Clay Thomas Band and Cotton Kitty.
Prefer less experimentation? On the same night, DJ Jonathon and trumpet man RAVI team up at the Concorde to combine live instrumentation with house beats. The show starts around 10 p.m. and there is no cover.
Brilliance takes place this weekend with a small gathering of 11 local boys including DJ Pleasure, Skot Dub, Domenic G, Special K, Delerious and Legin. Add to the list anchor headliners Brent Carmichael and Ronnie Dubnut Foster, along with live work by Optiq, and youve got yourself a 4/4 extravaganza. Tickets are available at Feroshus and Phonics, and information can be had by calling 286-7283.
On Tuesday you can catch Session Two, happening at Cherry Lounge. This show is part two (funny that) of a series, and it features Sotero playing alongside Delerious and Michael Ellis. Tickets are available at the door.
Wednesday night down at the Republik you can catch the Ferenheit rising with this weeks special guest, Dekoze, whos playing the pocket with Domenic G(igi).
Of course, on the radar for the coming weeks is: the turntable spin-off at The Night Gallery on March 24, with eight DJs spinning their hearts out for the crown; the full-on techno assault of Resurrection, which will feature techno and nothin but on March 18; and on April 1, none other than his Trance majesty Paul Oakenfold will be up in Edmonton playing the Northlands Sportex, with Max Graham, local tranceman Cary Chang and Edmontons Terry Tran the chillout room will contain Al Testa, Cool Hand Luc, Malfunkt and the ever-gracious Magpie. Tickets for this party are available in advance from Feroshus and you can call 780-488-9591 or visit www.defstar.com for more information.
We wanted to know what Magpie is gonna be playing at Oakenfold, while on her way to Oakenfold, and coming back from Oakenfold. Here are three shell be bumping:
1) Kruder & Dorfmiesters The K&D Sessions
2) Flesh Eating Disco Zombies vs. The Bionic Hookers from Mars by the London Funk Allstars
3) Rinoceroses Installation Sonore
