Forgotten star wars

With all the hype surrounding Star Wars due to the release of The Phantom Menace, it’s time to remember the other intergalactic sensation from the ’70s – Battlestar Galactica.

Referred to as the poor man’s Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica nonetheless entertained a generation not only on the big screen, but with two television spinoffs.

Re-live all the days of that ragtag fleet featuring Commander Adama, Boomer, Boxey, Athena, Cassiopeia, Apollo, and that frackin’ cigar-smokin’ ladies’ man Starbuck as they attempt to outwit that traitor Baltar and those crazy one-eyed Cylons.

The Kobol Web site claims to be the oldest and largest Battlestar Galactica site on the Net (a pretty bold claim to make), and contains episode archives, photos, spacey fonts and information for memorabilia collector’s.

Mosquito transport

This year’s dry spring doesn’t mean they’ll be any lack of mosquitoes buzzing around Calgary – getting around the city may never be the same.

The Mosquito is bound to be one of the hottest forms of transport this summer. Able to support up to 400 lbs, the power scooter has a 1.2 hp engine and can travel as fast as 35 kmh on pavement or dirt roads. As well as being a blast to ride, the Mosquito is environmentally friendly, getting as much as 100 mpg and folding up for easy storage at home, work or at the campsite.

Retailing for about $1000, look for the Mosquito’s invasion at motor sports stores, bike shops and through The Source.
