Calgary Men’s Chorus

The Calgary Men’s Chorus and special guests, A Vancouver Women’s Chorus, will hold a spring concert on May 15 entitled In the Name of Love.

The CMC was established in 1994 and has grown to include almost 30 members who are dedicated to excellence in the performance of a broad spectrum of men’s choral music. The chorus also strives to build a sense of community and positive self-image among gay men and lesbians, and to provide important bridges of understanding to the public through enjoyable music.

The Vancouver Women’s Chorus is a group of lesbian and lesbian-positive women who come from diverse cultural, political, religious and musical backgrounds. The group performs music drawn from a variety of styles and represents many cultures in an effort to entertain, educate and share their struggles and strengths. The women’s chorus, which started in 1981, now has 60 singers and includes the 12-voice ensemble Synchronicity.

In the Name of Love will feature performances by both chorus groups and Synchronicity, as well as a combined effort. The event takes place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 15 at Knox United Church (506 - 4th Street S.W.), and tickets are available at Stonewall Connections Travel, A Woman’s Place Bookstore, The Rainbow Pride Resource Centre, Moneypennies Eatery and Bar, and at the door.
