FALL FASHION
by Carla Daluka

About the author...

This former Miss Teen Saskatoon is a self-proclaimed "people person." This show, therefore, is about the people. The actors. The "players." The emphasis was placed on the individual's personal style - what they feel comfortable wearing. Their styles, obviously, are quite varied - ranging from sequins for day to Dickies khakis for evening. The only restriction was that there were to be no gratuitous ass shots (theirs, not mine).

About the cast...

Paul

Having just returned to Calgary from an extensive European tour (The New 1-2 played sold out shows all over the Netherlands opening up for Glass Tiger!), Paul is ready for some down time. Some Paul time. Paul's style is very casual - day and night - and the clothes he is wearing reflect just that. He enjoys a monochromatic wardrobe, preferably navy.

The outfit Paul selected for his "casual" daytime look consists of navy blue cargo pants by Canadian clothiers Three Stones. His hoodie (or bunny-hug, if you're of team Saskatchewan) is by Three Stones as well. His "evening wear" consists of Dickies khaki pants and a white T-shirt, topped with a burgundy jacket by Grubbies. All clothing supplied by Blue Light Special.

Friedrich

Friedrich recently thought he had found his dream job. Midday had decided to launch a spin-off program, Midstream, with Friedrich co-hosting. After months of absolute bliss, he overheard one of his co-workers referring to him as "the next Benmergui." In a blind rage, he caught the next flight home, and is now pleased as punch to be producing and reporting for NOW TV.

The wardrobe he selected (and the Rorschach test provided) reveal a preppy side to Friedrich. He prefers a simple wardrobe for work - usually khakies and a button-down shirt. For evening, his look is punched up with a dressier version of this style.

For daytime, Friedrich chooses a comfortable and laid back look in indigo jeans by Blue System with a cotton blend sweater by Matinique. When the sun goes down, he could be anyone's prom date in Part Two gun-metal grey pants (grey - it's the season's black!), Matinique brown button-down shirt, Rudsack black leather belt and Identify brown leather jacket (brown - it's this season's other black!). All clothing supplied by rpm.

Rebecca

Rebecca, too, spent her summer abroad. After discovering the "dramatic chemistry" she and David Suzuki shared on the set of their fabulous "Learning in the Library" commercial, they set off to turn the world on its ear (and turn the world on with their collaborative smile). For the duration of the summer, the dynamic duo filled the roles of Matty & David in the off-off-Broadway stage adaptation of Moonlighting. Rebecca can now be found working with Loose Moose and Upstart Crows (which she co-founded) in their improv soap opera Exposed. Rebecca's professional and dramatic style is revealed in the understated look she chooses - easy and comfortable for day, with a classic flair for evening.

For work, Rebecca looks fantastic in her choice of a Virani pleather and knit sweater/jacket, Virani white button-down shirt, and Inwear black cords. And when the work day is over, with a coat like this, what else do you need? Val selects a Betsey Johnson monlolie fur-trimmed velvet coat, Franco Mirabelli black camisole and black pants. All clothing supplied by Focus.

Valerie

This former front woman for the band Pussy Monster, Val now works full-time as a trader at the Stock Exchange (this is not a metaphor for sex - coincidentally, her recently penned autobiography, Not a Metaphor for Sex, will be available in bookstores October 1). Val's wardrobe shows the diversity of her lifestyle, and style in general. For the office, she wears a lot of suits (preferably black lycra). In the evening, her look ranges from long black dresses to short florals (á la Betsey Johnson) - always with fabulous footwear.

Val selects a daytime outfit of Poleci grey denim capri pants (great for any gal at any height) and sequined camisole, and Quicksilver black velvet hoodie (dressy or casual - a great wardrobe addition). In the evening, VA-VA-VA-Val looks amazing in this X:S tube top (smoke 'em if ya got 'em is my sentiment on the tube top) and matching X:S side-slit tube skirt.

All clothing available at Primitive.
