CD REVIEW
by Mike BellMONSTER MAGNET
Powertrip
A&M· Fourth full-length album from heavy, New Jersey rock act.
· Features 12 new tracks plus a remake of the song "Tractor," which appeared on their first EP.
Ever had that nightmare you're dressed in denim and a sitting on your couch smokin' a joint, drinkin' a beer and watching some porn when all of a sudden the cushions laugh and catch fire from the ashes, and your eyes and ears start to bleed from the orgy of screams, sirens and Sabbath that have filled the room? And as the viscous fluid feeds the flames, you can feel your skin blistering, but you're not scared, you're actually getting turned on. And as you smell yourself liquefying and turning into smoke - actually breathe yourself in and know that your essence is riding a cyclical route into your brain - your visual perspective multiples into a million images and then over all of those sparkling eyes something casts a shadow, something behind you, something horny and funky and needing to hunt. The shadow turns into a blinding light and you're somehow aware that it is you and you are God and you need to kill and taste and violate and judge everything and everyone on every planet your spaceship can reach. Then as each eye rolls slowly into the back of your head you see every dark thought you ever had projected on the walls - every hedonistic and morally bankrupt natural urge that ever slipped a finger below your waistband or splattered a child on the pavement is visible and validated and made sane in the new world you now Lord over. And you giggle. And then you wake up.
