The Assignment, a Prince and the Pauper twist on the story involving international terrorist "the Jackal," stars Aidan Quinn, Donald Sutherland, Ben Kingsley and Al Waxman. After mistakenly being imprisoned while on leave in Jerusalem, Annibal Ramirez, a family man and Naval officer, is discovered by the CIA as being the exact double of the infamous terrorist Carlos the Jackal (Quinn). This dual role is a cry for attention (see Steal Big Steal Little) and while the acting in The Assignment is not terrible, the direction is. The dark themes of the doppleganger are left unexplored and the subject of the Jackal has been dealt with in a better fashion.

In the Company of Men is a dark film about two guys who decide to take revenge in the form of a sick and deceitful game where they compete for the same woman. Director Neil Labute has created a disturbing film that's difficult to watch due to its angry nature. The performances from Arron Eckhart and Matt Malloy are incredibly believable to the point of nausea. While In the Company of Men is not very pleasant, it's an important film to see.

Also released this week: She's So Lovely starring Sean Penn, Robin Wright Penn and John Travolta, Mimic starring Mira Sorvino, Invisible Dad, Hostile Intent, Body Count, Plato's Run, Stargate SG-1, and When Time Expires.
