Weird Transformations

The movies have a long tradition of depicting ordinary people turning into rampaging monsters of some kind; usually werewolves, or Mr. Hyde-type brutes. Here are some of the more unusual transformations in film history:

Man into giant drug-addicted turkey: Blood Freak (1972)

Man into bed-sitting room: The Bed-Sitting Room (1969)

Woman into cupboard: The Bed-Sitting Room (1969)

Michael Jackson into dancing Gobot: Moonwalker (1988) (MJ also turns into a claymation rabbit)

Human / cartoon transformations: Cool World (1992), Stay Tuned (1992), James and the Giant Peach (1996), Volere Volare (1991), Bedazzled (1967), Superman (The 1948 cliffhanger serial. Supe turns into a realistically rendered cartoon figure whenever he flies, or breaks through a wall. The same goes for the 1950 sequel; "Atom Man vs. Superman")

Cross-gender transformations: Vegas in Space (1992), Switch and Ms. Hyde (1995), Deathstalker (1983), Freaked (1993), Myra Breckinridge (1970), Bedazzled (1967)

Time-travelling dwarf into pig: Time Bandits (1982)

Human into vegetable: Swamp Thing (1981), Revenge of the Teenage Vixens from Outer Space (1985)

Man into dolphin: The Big Blue (1985)

Human into bug: The Beast Within (1982), Bedazzled (1967), The Fly (1958 / 1986), Matinee (1993), The Wasp Woman (1960), Evil Spawn (1987), Invasion of the Bee Girls (1973), Mesa of Lost Women (1952), Horrors of Spider Island (1959)

Man into ape: The Ape Man (1943), Altered States (1980)

Entire township into rhinoceri: Rhinoceros (1974)

Man into stone: Clash of the Titans (1981), The Gorgon (1964), The Man who Turned to Stone (1957)

Man into snake: Ssssssss (1973), Conan the Barbarian (1982)

Boy into mouse: The Witches (1990)

Man into giant talking worm: The Worm Eaters (1978), Freaked (1993)

Man into sock puppet: Freaked (1993)

Man into cow: Freaked (1993)

Board of directors into giant shoe: Freaked (1993)
